Shanghai

Shanghai - a modern cosmopolitan city.

The Bund

Modern shopping streets

on the Bund, Pu Dong behind us

some challenges finding your way
Old Shanghai - the normal chaotic market streets near Olivier's apartment.

This area of the old town is slated for demolition to make room for

more modern development.

A few blocks further we find our way into the Yu Garden area with well preserved older buildings, catering mainly to tourists, most of whom are Chinese. There is an obvious western influence.

Starbucks is front and centre
Of course there is other street food, whatever it might be...

Ursula is with our hosts/guides, Olivier and Emiie, on the red carpet ready to receive their Oscars at a film opening.

On the way back to the apartment we pass the place where the Chinese Communist party was formed.
