10 Oct - to the Hong Kong border

The first section is finished - three weeks, 17 riding days, almost 2000 km.
Getting further south and closer to the coast... palm trees on city streets...

...and hot, sunny, and more construction and dust...

...the morning cold drink stop...

...small farming plots at the lunch stop....

..controlled irrigation of a small patch the manual way...

After lunch, carrying bikes over a pedestrian bridge...

...to get to a back road and finally get a view of the ocean, the East China Sea...

...where there is some seriously heavy shipping...

...and another stop for cold drinks near the beach where Doug, our trusty mechanic models the latest bicycle safety gear borrowed from one of the girls.

Tomorrow we bus into Hong Kong for a couple of days of rest.

  1. Rae and Ursi - your blogs brings back memories of Africa - a time we'll never forget. Even though we'll be crossing through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia during the winter months - wish we were there right now with you folks. Hope to touch base with you in March when we pass through Vancouver on our way back home - stay safe! Beryl

  2. Hi Beryl and Bernie... We wish you were here too... that would have been fun. But just a week from now we'll be in Vietnam and starting to travel through the area for your travels. We'll look forward to the tales when you visit in March.
